Introduction to Collective Seraphic
Now that Seraphic's at a stable place, I think I'm gonna take some time to delve into the basics of how it operates. For this post I'll only be going into the language itself and not the writing system, as that's going to need a post of its own to elaborate on. I'll try to keep this as concise as possible, but I may make separate posts expanding on topics discussed in this one. So, without further ado, onto the infodump!
Background
Collective Seraphic (which I'll be referring to as "Seraphic") is an artlang that I've created for a comic that as of this post I have not began yet, but am still developing. The majority of the comic will take place on the Seraph Homeworld, an alien planet some 3,000 lightyears from Earth populated by the seraph species (pictured below):
Within the story, Seraphic acts as the lingua franca of the Seraph Homeworld and the many colonized planets under Seraph control. It's used in the government, and among speakers of differing languages. As such, this language was the first one that I knew I would need to make as it will play a vital role in both the storytelling and narrative structure.
Syntax
Seraphic is largely a fusional language, employing affixes to modify the semantic role and meaning of morphemes. Seraphic does not, in the traditional sense, have verbs, so the sentence structure is strictly subject-object (will expand upon later). Nouns decline for number and tense, and are grouped into seven noun classes. Adjectives agree with nouns in number, except if derived from nouns themselves, in which case they'll also agree in class. Seraphic is very head-initial; with demonstratives, numerals, possesives, adjectives, genitives, and relative clauses following the noun the modify; and prepositions preceeding the nouns they modify. Auxiliaries preceed procedurals (again, will expand upon later).
Phonology
Here is the phonological chart for Seraphic:

It has a syllable structure of (CC)V(CC). Plosives cannot exist word finally, clusters of consonants of the same manner are illegal, and vowel clusters are also not permitted. Syllabic consonants are grouped with vowels and behave much like them, carrying tone and stress, so they together are grouped and referred to as vocalics. Seraphic is a tonal language, employing the use of four tones: rising (á), falling (à), high (ā), and low (a). Low tones remained unmarked in both the Seraphic script and in romanization. Stress is syllable-independant. It will take either the ultimate, penultimate, or rarely the antepenultimate. Stress always falls on the syllable with a voiceless initial obstruent nearest to the end of the word. If none are available, it will fall on the syllable with an initial sonorant within the same parameters. Stress will never fall on a voiced obstruent. For clarity, I'll provide a key describing the pronunciation of the romanization.
Sounds that are similarly pronounced as they're read in American English:
m, n, p, b, t, d, k, g, f, v, s, z, y, w, l
Sounds that have special pronunciations:
ŋ, like the ng in English "sing"
p', like the ጴ in Amharic "ጴጥሮስ"
t', like the t' in Navajo "yá'át'ééh"
k', like the კ in Georgian "კაბა"
', like the the space within English "uh-oh"
c, like the sh in English "sharp"
j, like the s in English "measure"
x, like the gh in English "ugh"
ğ, like the γ in Greek "γάλα"
pf, like the pf in German "Pfirsiche"
ts, like the z in Italian "grazia"
tc, like the ch in English "chain"
kx, like the kh in Lakota "lakhóta"
r, like the rr in Spanish "perro", although occasionally like the r in Spanish "amarillo"
i, like the ee in English "meet"
į, like the ы in Russian "ты"
u, like the oo in English "boot"
e, like the é in French "beauté"
œ, like the a in English "Tina"
o, like the o in Classical Latin "sol"
a, like the a in English "bra" although this can change to be more forward or more backward.
Another letter that might trip people up is ł, which is meant to represent the high tone syllabic 'l'. Otherwise, syllabics are written the same as their pulmonic counterparts, with tone markers written when applicable.
Nouns
Nouns make up the bulk of the Seraphic lexicon. Every noun is grouped into one of seven classes:
Solar class: nouns related to seraphim or seraph-like beings, and seraph body parts. Prefix appears as zā-, zō-, zē-, s-, or ts-.
sēr = "person"
Astral class: nouns related to non-seraph animate lifeforms (their equivalent to "animals"). Prefix appears as ğr-, x, or kx-.
xuc = "cherub"
Vital class: nouns related to inanimate lifeforms (their equivalent to "plants"). Prefix appears as wā-, wō, w-, ū-, wē-, or wī-.
wējlux = "tree"
Terranean class: nouns related to landscapes, locations, and natural phenomena. Prefix appears as va-, vo-, vu-, f-, and pf-.
voxāl = "sun"
Metallic class: nouns related to inanimate objects, both natural and artificial. Prefix appears as ja-, jo-, c-, or tc-.
jağrú = "rock"
Lunar class: nouns related to abstract concepts, and terms related to time. Prefix appears as la-, lo-, le-, li-, y-, or l/ł-.
levren = "job"
Oceanic class: nouns related to general words, tangible concepts, numbers, all adjectives, and non-incorporated loanwords. Prefix appears as a/ā-, o/ō-, or aw-.
awuf = "group"
Adjectives do not agree in class, due to the fact that nouns originally are derived from adjectives, and noun classes acted as a way to differentiate between nouns and adjectives.
fa = "warm, hot"
jafa = "fire" (lit. "a hot thing")
When adjectives are used as predicatives, they decline into the oceanic class in order to take the procedurals (once more, will expand upon later).
Nouns also decline for four numbers: singular (one thing, usually unmarked), dual (two things, both things; suffixes as -ac, -oc, -œc, or -c), plural (things, many thing; suffixes as -n, -an, or -in), and collective (every thing, all things; suffixes as -āf/ōf, -áf/-óf, or -'ōf).
Seraphic doesn't use pronouns. Everything and everyone is referred to by name, including yourself. From our perspective, the Seraphic language constantly speaks in the third person. However, it can be repetitive to use the same name over and over again in a sentence, and sometimes you don't know the name of things, so they'll apply what I've called pro-forms. They consist of the demonstrative adjectives fl "this", sl "that", and xl "yon" declined into the Solar class and taking the place of the first, second, and third person respectively. For ease of reference, I'll provide the forms and their declensions below.
zāfl (I/me), zāflc (both of us), zāvlin (we/us), zāfláf (all of us)
zāsl (you), zāslc (both of you), zāzlin (you guys), zāsláf (all of you)
zōxl (they), zōxlc (both of them), zōğlin (many of them), zōxláf (all of them)
Seraphic makes no distinction in the gender of the speaker, in this regard. Although these resemble pronouns, they're not meant to be used as often as regular pronouns, and whenever possible it's much preferred that you refer to someone or something by name.
Adjectives and Prepositions
Adjectives are fairly straightforward. Adjectives follow the noun they modify (e.g. sēr tan "big person"), and agree with them in number (e.g. sēr tan "big person" vs sērn t'aŋon "big people"). Adjectives agree in the singular form with singular and collective nouns, and they agree in the plural form with dual and plural nouns.
There are three main types of adjectives: native adjectives (e.g. cna "good"), borrowed adjectives (e.g. anzn "nice"), and noun-derived adjectives (e.g. arfi/ofi "new"). Native and borrowed adjectives don't agree with noun classes, but noun-derived adjectives do. It originated from the animacy-based adjective agreement system in Proto-Seraphic, which has been lost in all other adjective instances. When you want to make a noun into an adjective you'll affix one of two prefixes to it: ar- (if agreeing with Solar, Astral, and Vital nouns) and o- (if agreeing with Terranean, Metallic, Lunar, and Oceanic nouns). There are specific rules on the forms each prefix takes based on the noun they're attached to:
"ār-" when preceeding high or falling vocalic syllables (e.g. sēr ārzājna "popular person")
"ar-" when preceeding low or rising vocalic syllables (e.g. wēn arfe "local fruit")
"ó-" when preceeding high or falling vocalic syllables (e.g. lalel ówē "grassy flavor")
"o-" when preceeding low or falling vocalic syllables (e.g. lesar olvulvren "economic problem")
"ōw-" when preceeding words that start with a vocalic (e.g. lnin ōwāsāvbas "momentary event")
Prepositions occur before the nouns they modify, and don't change form in any circumstance. There are currently 19 prepositions in the modern language, and they are usually connected to nouns via a hyphen (e.g. e-fe "at (the) place"):
cu = of; indicates possession
pr̄ = indicates the indirect object, equivalent to "to" in the phrase "The man sends the letter to me."
in/īn = as or like; indicates similarity or resemblance. Will either be low or high tone depending on the tone of the following syllable.
e/ē = at or on; indicates location.
tsa = near or for; indicates relative distance from a location or an action performed for the sake of the referent.
cni = without; indicates a lack of possession or company.
wa = in or inside of; indicates interior position.
tn = on top of, above, or before; indicates superior position or a prior instance in time.
pux = under, beneath, or after; indicates inferior position or a following instance in time.
pi = with, together with; indicates being in company of or making use of the referent.
fān = from or away from; indicates the motion of leaving the referent.
ku = out of; indicates motion from within the referent towards the exterior.
tun = into or through; indicates motion from outside the referent towards the interior.
xel = to or towards; indicates the motion of approaching the referent.
kxun = across; indicates motion from one location to another
pn̄ = around; indicates location surrounding the referrent.
cāza = between; indicates location in the middle of the referrent.
tē = after, behind; indicates posterior position.
fr = during; indicates a moment in time
Prepositions aren't combined in Collective Seraphic, but may be in certain instances in colloquial speech.
Procedurals
Okay, this is probably the most complicated part of Seraphic, so I'm going to need to get into things individually. First, I'll start with defining a procedural itself. Procedurals are the term I use for the prefixes used to describe the relationship or process of and between the agent noun and the patient noun. These are what act as the equivalent to "verbs" in earth languages. There are three in use:
Existential: used to denote a state of being or equivalence between agent and patient, or to the patient and itself. Equivalent to English "to be" (e.g. A is B, there is B). Usually prefixes as some variant of n-, m-, or ŋ-.
Actional: used to denote an action or process between the agent and patient, or with the patient and itself. Equivalent to English "to do" or "to act upon" (e.g. A acts upon B). Carries a connotation of agency and intent. Usually prefixes as some variant of re-, ra-, or r-.
Resultative: used to denote an occurence or change in state between agent and patient, or patient and itself. Equivalent to English "to become", "to happen", or "to change into" (e.g. A becomes B, B happens to A). Carries a connotation of passiveness or motion. Usually prefixes as some varient of ed- or ez-.
The procedural will change its form slightly depending on the class and declension pattern of the noun it modifies. It always affixes to the patient noun, demonstrating a relationship of an action and what is being acted upon. In this way, the patient can be clearly identified. In transitive or causative clauses, the word order is always S(P)O, with the agent acting as the subject and the patient as the object. In intransitive and passive clauses, the word order is always (P)S, with the patient acting as the subject and the agent demoted to the indirect object or omitted entirely.
Although seemingly limiting, using these three procedural, as well as prepositions, nouns, and adjectives, altogether can be used to make all sorts of verb equivalents that are called "procedural phrases". I'll demonstrate how to build a sentence now. First thing we need to know is the subject and object:
Sāx ... jafa (The child ... the fire)
Next, I'll add the actional procedural in the present tense to this.
Sāx rejafa (The child acts upon the fire)
By itself this is technically grammatically correct, but it doesn't really mean anything. It's too broad. So we add a prepositional phrase to specify exactly what action the child is taking towards the fire.
Sāx pi-sīman rejafa (The childs acts upon the fire with (their) eyes)
Now we know that the child is performing an action involving the use of their eyes. Now of course this could mean many different things in English, but in Seraphic the first thing that comes to mind would be fairly obvious: to see! Thus, "Sāx pi-sīman rejafa" would be the same as saying "The child sees the fire" in English! There are a lot of set phrases that equate to verbs, and remain consistent in their arrangement. Often differing phrases are a useful way to ascertain where someone is from or what their first language is.
Tense and Aspect
Seraphic has six main tenses: two pasts, two presents, and two futures. The two pasts consist of the recent past (happening recently) and the remote past (happening a long time ago), and they prefix and/or combine with the procedural.
Sāx pi-sīman ğrejafa (The child just saw the fire)
Sāx pi-sīman eğrejafa (The child saw the fire a while ago)
Similarly, the future tenses consist of the near future (will happen soon) and the distant future (will happen eventually).
Sāx pi-sīman drejafa (The child will soon see the fire)
Sāx pi-sīman izrejafa (The child will eventually see the fire)
The present tenses consist of a general present tense (happens) and the infinitive (to happen) which is used with auxiliaries and copulae and carries no presence in time.
Sāx pi-sīman rejafa (The child sees the fire)
Pi-sīman ezrejafa (To see a fire)
Whether someone considers an event to be nearer or farther in time from them is completely up to their discretion. There's no set timeframe for when to use the recent vs. remote past, it's all fairly subjective. However, whether you decide to use the recent or remote can really indicate whether you believe something to be in the distant past or future, or just a few moments ago or soon.
Seraphic also makes use of two copulae, the perfective -r and the imperfective -l, helping clitics that expand on the aspect of the procedural, i.e. how the procedural happens over time instead of when in time. The copulae are separate from the procedural, being placed directly before it and conjugating on their own similarly to the lexical procedural. When the copulae are in use, they are conjugated instead of the lexical procedural, while the lexical will be put into the infinitive. The exception to this is if the point in time is considered necessary to be stated for the sake of clarity or emphasis, in which case the lexical verb will also conjugate (though this isn't considered to be the default). The two copulae each conjugate to six tenses, and give 12 individual aspects in total. They are as follows, starting with the perfective:
āgxōnr - Pluperfect: indicates that the action happened at a point before some time in the past either specified or implied (e.g. āgxōnr nidsl "that has happened")
xōnr - Preterite: indicates that the action happened in the past with no reference to if it was completed recently or remotely. A general past (e.g. xōnr nidsl "that happened")
nar - Relative: indicates relative clauses, i.e. clauses that act to modify a noun similarly to an adjective. Equivalent to "that", "who", or "which" (e.g. lsl nar nidsl "the thing that happens")
ednr - Gnomic: indicates general truths, common knowledge, and aphorisms (e.g. ednr nezłsl "things happen")
t'enr - Future Simple: indicates the action will happen in the future with no regard to how near or far it is from the present (e.g. t'enr nidsl "that will happen")
āt'ēnr - Future Perfect: indicates that the action will happen before a time or event in the future (e.g. āt'ēnr nidsl "that will have happened")
And the imperfective:
ŋ̄xōzl - Discontinuous: indicates that an action was happening in the past, but is no longer happening in the present (e.g. ŋ̄xōzl nidsl "that used to happen")
xōzl - Habitual: indicates that an action is done often or out of habit (e.g. xōzl nidsl "that always happens")
īzl - Progressive: indicates that an action is happening at the very moment of conversation (e.g. īzl nidsl "that is happening")
nizl - Prospective: indicates that an action will be starting to, or is in the process of happening (e.g. nizl nidsl "that is about to happen")
t'ezl - Iterative: indicates that an action happens again, repeatedly, or more than one time based on context (e.g. t'ezl nidsl "that happens again" or "that happens again and again")
nt'ezl - Continuative: indicates that an action happens continuously and without end (e.g. nt'ezl nidsl "that still happens")
With both tense and aspects, this largely expands the capability of Seraphic in referring to time.
Moods
Seraphic makes use of seven modal particles to denote seven moods. They are always placed at the beginning of clauses, and no two modal particles can exist in the same clause. They are grouped into four categories: the declaritive (indicative and negative), the inferential (evidential and interrogative), the deontic (volitive and imperative), and the epistemic (subjunctive and conditional). They add extra clarity in the speakers mood or opinion concerning the clause they modify, and are as follows:
Indicative: base form of a clause. Indicates that the speaker is stating a fact or what exists, and is unmarked (e.g. idsl "that happens")
tu - Negative: indicates that the speaker is stating a fact that is untrue or what doesn't exist. Usually only appears in formal, official texts, as the first syllable of the procedural will chage tone to contrast as well and leaves the particle unneccesary in colloquial speech (e.g. tu īdsl "that doesn't happen")
cuc - Evidential: indicates that the speaker is stating a fact that they believe or understand to be true, regardless of having experienced it or not. (e.g. cuc idsl "apparently that happens") Direct evidentiality is denoted using a different method.
an/ān - Interrogative: indicates that the speaker is confirming whether a statement is or isn't true. Forms questions (e.g. an idsl? "does that happen?")
tcān - Volitive: indicates that the speaker desires for the statement to be true (e.g. tcān idsl "that wants to happen" or "that needs to happen" or "that should happen")
má - Imperative: indicates that the speaker is giving a command or suggestion, to themselves and/or to other referents. Functions additionally as a cohortative and a jussive (e.g. má idsl! "let that happen!")
tir - Subjunctive: indicates that the speaker believes the statement to be possible or likely (e.g. tir idsl "that could/would/might happen")
nun - Conditional: indicates that speaker believes the statement to be possible under specific circumstances or conditions (nun idsl "if/when that happens..."
Miscellaneous
That's about the basics of the Seraphic language outline. I'd like to eventually get into things like comparison, evidentiality, declension forms and the like, but those are all topics that definitely need their own individual posts. Real quick, I want to provide one more additional fact about Seraphic.
Seraphic uses base-16, meaning it groups numbers in sets of 16 instead of sets of 10 like we do. 1-16 would be written 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F, 10. 10 would be read as 16, and equally 20 would be 32. They're still counting the same amount of things, they're just dividing it up differently!
Anyways that's about it, I hope to share more about Seraphic soon, and when the comic gets released I hope you'll all be able to read it and pick out the many many lines of Seraphic I've poured into it!

EU airspace is full of empty planes (permalink)
In the EU, airlines that do not fly at least 80% of scheduled flights risk losing their spots to competitors, so Europe's skies are filled with largely empty "ghost planes," burning tons of fuel for no reason.
https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-airlines-run-empty-ghost-flights-planes-passengers-outbreak-covid-2020-3
Covid-19 has crashed aviation demand, but not flights themselves. Miraculously, UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps – an otherwise useless idiot – has led on this, asking British aviation regulators to relax the 80/20 rule.

European Right to Repair for phones is finally on the horizon (permalink)
The EU has led the world on Right to Repair, with extensive regulation mandating both easy-to-repair designs and manufacturer cooperation with the independent repair sector. But there's been one glaring omission in EU rules: smartphones. Though the official reasoning for not mandating Right to Repair for phones – which are universal and a major source of e-waste – is that the sector is too fast-moving to regulate, it's far more likely that the EU shied away because were scared to pick a fight with Apple.
Apple, after all, is the most repair-hostile manufacturer in the world. It's official reasoning on this is laughably terrible and transparent.
https://www.ifixit.com/News/33977/apple-told-congress-how-repair-should-work-we-respond
Especially when considered in light of its investor disclosures, which make it clear that the company views the tendency of customers to fix and keep their phones (rather than buying new ones) as the major threat to its profitability.
https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2019/01/letter-from-tim-cook-to-apple-investors/
Apple is a one-company environmental apocalypse, with the industry's worst practices for old/broken electronics. Others fix systems, re-use parts, and keep parts available. Apple literally orders its partners to shred it all and turn it into landfill.
https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/yp73jw/apple-recycling-iphones-macbooks
This has the major advantage (for Apple) of curtailing the used equipment market, which means that potential customers are herded into buying new. It also means that those new devices have a hidden drain on their value, because they have no aftermarket commercial life. It's no wonder, then, that Apple led the industry coalitions that killed all twenty state-level Right to Repair bills in 2018.
Which brings us to today, as the EU is contemplating a new set of Right to Repair rules, including rules for electronics, including – possibly – phones. The new rules will be published this week, and Apple has lobbied heavily against this outcome.
https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2020/03/right-to-repair-will-the-european-commission-have-the-guts-to-stand-up-to-apple-et-al-details-on-wednesday.html
If the new ecodesign directive covers mobile phones, the Commission will finally be addressing one of the great e-waste sources worldwide. If they do, though, expect Apple to squawk, as they did when the EU mandated a single charger for smartphones, which Apple publicly freaked out about as though it was an extinction-level event.

Patagonia offers tutorials and supplies to fix your clothes (permalink)
People buy Patagonia not just because it's long-wearing, but because it comes with what amounts to a lifetime guarantee.
https://help.patagonia.com/s/article/Ironclad-Guarantee
Companies that offer lifetime guarantees want their customers to be able to effect their own repairs and maintenance – unlike companies whose profits depend on you throwing away and replacing your purchases every 18 months.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/03/08/ghost-flights/#eurighttorepair
So it's delightful (but not surprising) that Patagonia have partnered with iFixit to produce detailed repair and maintenance documentation for its products.
https://www.ifixit.com/Wiki/Patagonia_Product_Care
The official Product Repair Guide fits right in with the company's longstanding ethic and messaging (after all, these are the people who ran an anti-consumerism campaign called "Do Not Buy This Jacket!").

I also noticed more than a few angry comments in Sephora online community about the availability of products, price, and (especially) the Weekly Wow discounts in Canada compared to the United States.. I get how that looks problematic but no one reasonable thinks homosexuals are particularly happy, or lame. Again, I get your viewpoint but it seems like a minor battle to fight. The LGBTQ community real problem is with organized religion. Heck, the Switch and it portable nature could probably get people that have already bought the game once before, to buy it again. Rockstar has shown some interest in the Switch with LA Noire too, so I wondering if they did intend to put GTA V on the Switch at some point, and have run into issues in doing so (but I mean it ran pretty great on PS3 and 360, so I find it hard to believe it couldn perform well on the Switch), or maybe it still forthcoming. I have to imagine that they at the very least considered bringing it to the Nintendo system by this point.. No termination. He only finally got fired due to absences of all things.I had far worse scenarios than that but that was the worst one that was work related.I so sorry this is bringing up miserable feelings for you. I know I a strange woman on reddit but if you would ever like to talk, feel FREE to message me. I on here just about every day.. Write the shadow brand and name on the back (if not already there). I depotted Naked 1 and Naked 2 and fuck if I can tell Sidecar from Suspect from Verve from Toasted without looking specifically 인제출장안마 at the name. It only important if you do tutorials or if you eventually pan a shadow and want to replace with a dupe of some kind. I guess the thing that is hard with Jessica is she so awesome, and nice and sincere, and like I said, very upfront about her sponsorships. But if her end goal for her channel is just to cash in the trust she built with us the audience to make money off of sponsorships, I think she going to lose subscribers, not because we hate her, but just because that kind of content is boring at best and kind of insulting at worst and overall not what we want. I don want to know who paid you money to talk about their product even if you actually do like it. Sire, there was once upon a time a merchant who possessed great wealth, in land and merchandise, as well as in ready money. He was obliged from time to time to take journeys to arrange his affairs. One day, having to go a long way from home, he mounted his horse, taking with him a small wallet in which he had put a few biscuits and dates, because he had to pass through the desert where no food was to be got.

The Secret of Successful CUBASE TUTORIALS

Intro
Among the oldest sequencers, cubase along with Reasoning (old-timers might remember the golden age of Pro 24 as well as Notator), Cubase has more than the years, imposed numerous ergonomic, technological, and also theoretical criteria on the competition. Releasing a brand-new version of Steinberg's flagship software is still an occasion in itself, although it needs to be admitted that today, the pretenders to the throne of the king of sequencers are fairly countless. Because of this, development and excellence are no more special to Cubase as well as, without also discussing various other sequencer heavy-weights (Logic, Sonar, Pro Equipment, Samplitude, Digital Performer and Ableton Live), the last years has seen several brand-new oppositions, with varying price and also popularity, however loaded with excellent features: Fruity Loops, Melodyne, Tracktion, Power XT, Reaper ...
In a market as competitive as this, it's certainly significantly difficult to attract attention. Cubase 4 had its doubters despite the fact that it launched the VST3 standard, brought its effects and online instruments as much as date, inaugurated a new media administration system and you can finally relocate effects from one track to another by drag & drop. Yet it appeared a lot more like they were attempting to catch up to the competition as opposed to actually innovating ... Even the a lot more initial technologies, like monitoring of external hardware (specifically Yamaha's, considering that the Japanese maker had lately acquired Steinberg) and also the development of control room targeted functions were fascinating, yet did not impact all customers and also for that reason didn't always validate the raised software program cost: around $879! Luckily, when the remarkable Reasoning 8 came out for around $500 it required Steinberg to reconsider its rates and also advertising and marketing strategy: you can now find Cubase 5 for around $500! With relatively interesting updates: 4.1 and 4.5 (side chain administration for their impacts, far better routing management, extra audio banks for HALionOne, etc.), as well as this fifth version, Steinberg is doing its best to attract us. Allow's get involved in details ...
When I'm 64
The box is heavy which's an excellent sign. Along with the USB dongle and also serial number that let you register, it really contains 2 manuals: a flying start overview, as well as an instead huge thorough manual that does not, nonetheless, cover the effects nor virtual tools consisted of with the software application, but which are covered in PDF files. There are 4 DVDs: the DVD to install the program, a DVD with audios as well as samples, as well as two DVDs with a 90-day demonstration version of HALion Symphonic Orchestra. Keep in mind that in addition to the manuals, the setup DVD consists of a great deal of tutorial videos that are quite possibly done and also deal with all the vital aspects of the sequencer. When you consider that there was a time that Steinberg was producing handbooks only in PDF style, we can just give thanks to the German firm for having changed its methods.
The installment went efficiently, and after double clicking on the red symbol, I was in acquainted region: the job window. The very first uniqueness of this variation does not leap out at you, since it's unseen: Cubase currently totally supports 64 little bit technology. Had not been this already the instance? Indeed and no, because despite the fact that Cubase 4 worked with 64-bit operating systems, the code had not really been rewritten for this. It consequently stayed basically a 32-bit application, yet efficient in running on a 64-bit system, whereas Cubase 5 is now readily available in full 64 little bits.
What's the huge deal regarding 64 little bits? It's straightforward: it enhances the addressable memory room. 32-bit os handle at finest 3.2 GB of memory, while a 64-bit OS can in theory increase to 128 GB (I say theoretically, since there presently exists no machine, offered to the public, that has that much RAM). A very vital information at once when online ROMplers included banks of 10s of Gigas for providing a single tool (BFD, superiorDRUMMER 2, Vienna, EastWest Symphonic Band, Cream color Piano, etc.) and simplifying the lives of those who do audio/video as well as need to take care of massive video clips within their sequencer.
Reduced Tech Propellerhead!
However not every little thing is glowing in the land of 64 little bits. Despite the fact that Steinberg is dedicated to supporting Mac OS X, Vista 64, and the forthcoming Windows 7, no assistance for Windows XP 64 is formally expected (it doesn't always mean that it won't function). Do not forget to examine your plug-ins: some programmers currently include 64-bit compatibility and Steinberg suggests, through VST Bridge technology, a way to use 32 bit plugins in the 64-bit variation of the sequencer, yet it's still highly likely that or more of your old impacts that you have actually had for ages in your VSTplugins directory site will collapse or decline to begin. Making Use Of the VST Bridge also takes in resources symmetrical to the use of a true 64-bit plug-in ... In addition to these small aggravations, the major disadvantage of 64-bit is the conflict with Propellerheads innovations: if you make use of Cubase 5 64-bit in a 64-bit OS, you will not have the ability to use REX data styles, nor the ReWire system: so farewell making use of Cubase with Reason, Ableton Live as well as Melodyne, among others ... Naturally, the Swedish developer will probably not leave the circumstance as it stands, yet currently, no announcement has been made on this issue ... What do we do in that case? Set up the 32-bit variation of Cubase 5, which runs efficiently on a 64-bit OS, up until Propellerhead makes an action. This is annoying of course, however it can not be condemned on Steinberg. Let's have a look now at functions that will change the way you make use of Cubase.
Cognito, Ergonomic Sum
There's no transformation in regards to interface, the German designer appears to have selected, with this release, making the interface less complex and boosting work circulation. Take for instance the new Automation panel that brings together in a single home window the major automation commands. One click currently is adequate to equip all the tracks in Read or Write settings, while you can pick to display or conceal automation information, as well as engage/disengage playback or recording features by Type: Quantity, Frying Pan, EQ, Sends, Inserts. The moment saved is considerable!
As for controls, a host of small improvements have been made, such as the existence of a digital keyboard that enables you to play music from a QWERTY keyboard (helpful when you're on a laptop when driving, and you don't have a key-board), or a cost-free application for iPod/iPhone which will allow your remotely regulate the transport bar by means of WiFi ... wonderful, you might say, yet inadequate to justify an upgrade. Other than that Steinberg has actually likewise taken this occasion to fulfill the desires expressed by numerous customers, by incorporating, to start with, an export of multiple audio files.
Total Export, Hallelujah!
Requested ages ago, the Total amount Export feature now makes it feasible to export numerous tracks in one shot. Previously in Cubase, when you wanted, for example, to make a CD of 16 audio tracks to offer to a good friend or a studio working under another sequencer without the OMF style, you had to do track by track, making use of the Solo and also Mute buttons: a wild-goose chase! Now, in the Mixdown home window, just check the little boxes for your outputs, audio tracks or instruments and impacts tracks. The only point missing out on in this home window is the capability to enable/disable the results put in tracks, so you can easily provide a dry track, although it can still be carried out in the mixer or task view. It would have been nice if Cubase handled lossless sound layouts (Ape Audio among others). Anyhow, even if Steinberg is catching up with the competitors greater than introducing on this factor, this simple attribute alone is worth the upgrade from any type of version of Cubase to this brand-new version ...

Hear While She Sleeps Take On The Industry With New Battle Cry “Sleeps Society” From Upcoming LP
Always one to take risks and bet on themselves, UK noisemakers While She Sleeps are looking to change the way the music industry operates for the betterment of all the struggling artists out there.
Planting the seed with their new hard-hitting battlecry “Sleeps Society” taken from their forthcoming album of the same name, While She Sleeps are showing listeners just how tired they are of relying on other companies to sustain their own career.
Enlightening fans on their new vision and plan to shake things up via their new fan-driven community, the band collectively said:
“After 14 years as a band & in the ever-changing climate that is the music industry, we are embarking on a new chapter of our life as While She Sleeps.
Our goal is to create a sustainable model for artists & creatives, to break from the traditional industry mold by building and developing a true interdependence between the band & fans.
With the future of live performances uncertain, the Sleeps Society will enable a secure existence for WSS and gives us the opportunity to stay connected with our fanbase, developing new ways to provide for our supporters and fill the void left without live music.
In these uncertain times, this is the difference between life & death for the future of WSS. We aren’t prepared to be another band forced to give up simply because the system isn’t designed to support the artist.
The idea behind the society was created after over a decade’s experience of this rollercoaster ride that is the music industry. Having overcome mountains of hardship & financial debt, it feels important to share what we’ve learned along the way with those who are drawn to a similar path as ours.
This model will provide a new route for upcoming artists and bands similar to us, using our knowledge and guidance to help achieve a realistic career in the creative industries.
The society will ask a membership fee, ranging in different tiers of support. These contributions directly fund the creation and survival of WSS. The cost will be repaid to the fans with a plethora of informative, exciting & engaging videos, as well as special events to get involved with and many exclusives to members.
We’ll be sharing full album guitar & drum play-throughs, a tutorial series for songwriting, studio production, vocal techniques, art & branding, self-management, videography & much more. There’ll be an in-depth look into making the forthcoming album & live streamed studio sessions where members can help make decisions in the writing stages of songs.
Members will get early access to tour tickets, exclusive merchandise, warehouse meet-ups, events & secret ‘members only’ shows. And that’s just scratching the surface of what we’ll be offering members through the Society.
Our aim is to deliver a ‘too good to be true’ level of rewards for the prices we are asking our supporters to pay, using our individual skills to develop and create entertaining and informative videos, tutorials, ideas and more for our members. This is us sharing our knowledge and experience in the hope that other artists can take this model and use it for their own.
With the monthly support of our fans, the band will be able to break free from the traditional music industry method of ‘cash advances,’ where artists are essentially borrowing large sums of money and giving up the rights to their songs, only to spend the years that follow in debt which oftentimes becomes insurmountable and crippling.
The Sleeps Society ensures a solid future for WSS & creates a new model of survival for artists and bands alike. We will be delivering the highest level of fan involvement and fostering a symbiotic relationship as the Sleeps Society becomes an integral part of Sleeps’ existence.”
For more understanding of what this new era of While She Sleeps entails, be sure to check out their new music video / mock press conference below. Afterward, make sure to pre-order Sleeps Society (the album) before it hits stores April 16th.

Annotated edition for the June 14, 2020, Week in Ethereum News
It was a bit of a slow week on the Ethereum front. Last week’s glut of layer2 was a bit lighter this week.
The Eth2 multi-client testnet was quite stable and they’re going to be spinning up a new one (mildly different spec, so new testnet). Prysmatic has their own testnet and they launched a new one
If you’re a dev, then you probably already know about how ethers v5 is out, though the blog post is still forthcoming.
$COMP mining is happening now. See below.
Finally, Bank Frick is offering customers the option to use USDC instead of SWIFT for cheaper and faster transfers. A glimpse of the future.
Also, this newsletter now has a jobs section! The ads certainly aren’t cheap, but it beats paying $20,000 to a headhunter. I’ve had the idea for a long time, but generally thought I’d have a recruiting side business. But ultimately job listings feels more natural for me than being a recruiter.
Here’s the most clicked for the week:
Hasu tweeted to his audience of mostly bitcoiners, “Elastic blocksize caps and congestion control systems could become an important building block in securing Bitcoin post block subsidy.” That’s an interesting argument, but can anyone even imagine it happening though? Can’t see Blockstream ever agreeing to it, so at best a bitcoin fork could put it in.
Every week I mention a few higher level articles for Eth holders:
Analysis of EIP1559 (fee market change) from Hasu and Georgios Konstantopoulos
A framework to compare and evaluate layer2 solutions
These aren’t that high level this week, but there’s only 2 of them, so you can sacrifice quantity for quality.
In the long run, for "crypto” to be successful at any meaningful societal level, most things will happen at layer2, so you might want to have an idea about the tradeoffs in layer2 system. Matter Labs helpfully provided a framework and comparison chart.
As for 1559, it’s a big change and requires a lot of thought and testing - might get included in the hard fork at the end of the year, but it might not.
Eth1
Analysis of EIP1559 (fee market change) from Hasu and Georgios Konstantopoulos
Latest core devs call. Notes from Tim Beiko: STATICCALL likely to be repriced to 40 gas, account abstraction prototype, option 2 for EIP2565, discussion of eth2 deposit proxy contract, YOLO ephemeral testnet issues
Geth v1.9.15 includes implementations of Berlin fork EIPs
Not much to say here that wasn’t already said
Eth2
Latest what’s new in Eth2, Witti multi-client testnet quite stable, next testnet in a week called Altona
Latest Eth2 call. Notes from Ben, discussion of validator key hygiene
Prysmatic successfully launched their Onyx testnet. An updated guide to staking on Onyx
Lighthouse client update – getting to the final spec, discv5 rewrite for CPU optimization, tiny RAM use
Updating and generating Kate witnesses in amortized sqrt(n) time
An explainer for phase zero of eth2
IvanOnTech’s eth2 explainer
Protecting withdrawal keys
Most of this has no further elaboration necessary, but I love how this section slips in “updating and generating Kate witnesses in amortized sqrt(n) time” right next to high level eth2 explainers. Basically, that’s a mathy way fo explain Verkle Trees, which might replace Merkle trees if they can solve a bunch more problems.
Layer2
A framework to compare and evaluate layer2 solutions
Formally verifying state channels with TLA+
Volition: hybrid onchain/offchain data decision by users at the transaction level from StarkWare
Arguably the state channels verification post was more appropriate in the stuff for devs section.
Probably the best summary of the Volition post is their own graphic.
Volition is an interesting attempt to change the “offchain vs onchain data” paradigm. Basically, they’ll let users decide for each transaction whether they want to put the data onchain.
This newsletter is made possible by Trail of Bits!
Contract upgrades are not as safe as you think. Trail of Bits has catalogued 17 different ways that upgrades can go wrong, and built tools that help validate upgrades before you run them. Use Crytic to keep your contracts safe from these flaws.
Stuff for developers
ethers v5 is on npm, though RicMoo is still updating documentation
web3js v1.2.9 – better transaction submission tracking
Brownie and React starter tutorial
Querying your eth2 validator balance with Infura
Async event-driven app architecture with EthVigil
17 checks to make upgradeable contracts safer with Crytic
Diamond Setter manager for your Diamond Standard upradeable contracts
If you’re starting a new project, use ethers.
Other than that, stuff mostly speaks for itself I think.
Ecosystem
Transaction pool analyzer tool
Deanonymization using transaction time and gas price analysis. Use good privacy hygiene and this isn’t a problem
3 transactions with massive transaction fees (1, 2, 3). First 2 paid over 10k ETH each for a transaction fee. Lots of speculation about who screwed up and how.
Trueblocks: how accurate is Etherscan?
Zengo’s tx pool analyzer is very neat.
I don’t want to get into the speculation about what’s going on with those crazy transaction fees. Looks like some kind of bug to me; what’s odd is that they haven’t caught it.
Ethermine decided that after 4 days without having heard from them, that they were going to distribute it to their miners. It’s always been a nice part of Ethereum that pool operators have generally returned these mistake fees, so Ethermine got a bit of flak. But as a mining pool operator, you don’t want to be in the position of custodying large amounts of money for indeterminate time periods.
Now that a pool operator has distributed a large fee, you have to wonder whether that puts them in a competitive position versus other mining pools.
Immediately after publishing, I saw that security firm PeckShield claims to have identified the victim:
Enterprise
Baseline protocol explained
Baselining business process across Microsoft Dynamics and Google Sheets video
DAOs and Standards
TheLAO is extending Moloch v2 with Raid Guild’s Minion (programmatic proxy) framework for non-accredited investor baby DAOs
DAOs: governance as a service
EIP2711: Separate gas payer from msg.sender
EIP2718: Typed Transaction Envelope
It’s been interesting to see a lot of groups pick the Moloch codebase up and adapt it. If I understand it correctly, Minion is a proxy that will let the DAO vote and adopt any bit of code. Very neat, and will make the Moloch family of DAOs even more powerful.
Application layer
Unstoppable Domains launches blogs on the dweb using 3Box and IPFS. Etherscan launches BlockScan, a dweb search engine
Use Balancer pools as swing trading
a Foundation Markets technical primer, automated market makers for artists
Austrian post office returns with CryptoStamps v2
LexDAO’s personal token factory with dispute resolution via their DAO vote
Opyn now has call options
TokenSets upgraded with better rebalancing for less slippage (ahem: higher returns!)
PodsFinance: Money legos with options, lock aUSDC as collateral when selling American put options. Live on testnet
Between the publication of Week in Eth News and this annotated edition, COMP started distributing its token.
In a word: 🚀
Lots of people are now mining for COMP, because the market cap exploded up to a billion (it’s come down a bit at time of screenshot)
So people are putting their assets into Compound to get the (now quite valuable) COMP token. This screenshot from DeFiPulse shows the ETH locked has migrated to Compound
You can check how much you’d get of the $COMP token through various actions. If you start mining, be careful with your leverage!
On retrospect, I could have written much of this about Balancer last week, though it was a bit different because the Balancer token does not yet exist. $COMP exists and is on Uniswap (and presumably Balancer soon as well, though Balancer uses Coingecko data for their token distribution, which is why I suppose no one has added it at the moment)
Tokens/Business/Regulation
Bank Frick lets customers replace SWIFT with USDC for faster processing
ConsenSys starts KYC/AML compliance service
Ontario Securities Commission report on Quadriga: Gerald Cotten lost 143m trading
Tim Swanson: 40 crypto controversies to look into

The oddest thing about the ConsenSys compliance service is the paranoid conspiracies. It’s worth remembering that half the people got into “crypto” because, like a Rorschach test, many Bitcoiners can see conspiracy in anything.
These compliance services are a fact of life. You may not like them, but with ConsenSys increasingly an enterprise-focused company, it makes sense that they have their own compliance offering, especially since they had Alethio already built.
Speaking of regulatory bodies, the Ontario Securities Commission found that Gerald Cotten lost AT LEAST 143m, the vast majority of which was lost on his own exchange. How bad at trading do you have to be to see all the data of what people are doing on your exchange AND STILL LOSE MONEY?

I saw a tweet a few weeks ago about how SGX exists so that security researchers can write papers about how they broke the “secure enclave.”
That Lamphone attack is something else though. I remain skeptical that this is something that can ever really be used, sounds a bit more like Van Eck phreaking than it does an attack likely to be pulled off in the wild.

5G Tutorial – By Sagar Jaybhay
5G is that the Fifth Generation technology. it’s several advanced options potential enough to resolve many of the issues of our mundane life. it’s useful for the govt. because it will create the governance easier; for the students, because it will create accessible the advanced courses, classes, and materials online; it’s easier for the folk furthermore, because it will facilitate them the net everyplace. So, this tutorial is split into varied chapters and describes the 5G technology, its applications, challenges, etc.in detail.
Radio technologies have proved a speedy and multi directional evolution with the launch of the analogue cellular systems in Nineteen Eighties. Thereafter, digital wireless communication systems are systematically on a mission to fulfill the growing would like of kinsfolk (1G, …4G, or now 5G).
So, this text describes the 5G technology accentuation on its salient options, technological style (architecture), advantages, shortcomings, challenges, and future scope.
Salient options of 5G
5th Generation Mobile Network or just 5G is that the forthcoming revolution of mobile technology. The options and its usability are a lot of on the far side the expectation of a standard person. With its ultra-high speed, it’s potential enough to alter the which means of a mobile phone usability.
With an enormous array of innovative options, currently your good phone would be a lot of parallel to the laptop computer. you’ll use broadband net connection; different vital options that fascinate folks are a lot of diversion choices, wider multimedia system choices, property everyplace, zero latency, quicker latency, and top quality sound and HD video is transferred on different mobile phone while not compromising with the standard of audio and video.
If we glance back, we are going to notice that each next decade, one generation is advancing within the field of mobile technology. ranging from the primary Generation (1G) in the Nineteen Eighties, Second Generation (2G) in the Nineteen Nineties, Third Generation (3G) in the 2000s, Fourth Generation (4G) in 2010s, and currently Fifth Generation (5G), we have a tendency to are advancing towards a lot of and more subtle and smarter technology.

What is 5G Technology?
The 5G technology is anticipated to supply a brand new (much wider than the previous one) frequency bands along side the broader spectral information measure per frequency channel. As of now, the predecessors (generations) mobile technologies have proved substantial increase in peak bit-rate. Then — however is 5G completely different from the previous one (especially 4G)? the solution is — it’s not solely the rise in bit-rate created 5G distinct from the 4G, however rather 5G is additionally advanced in terms of −
High augmented peak bit rate
Larger knowledge volume per unit space (i.e. high system spectral efficiency)
High capability to permit a lot of devices property at the same time and in a flash
Lower battery consumption
Better property regardless of the geographical area, during which you’re
Larger variety of supporting devices
Lower price of infrastructural development
Higher reliableness of the communications
As researchers say, with the big selection of information measure radio channels, it’s able to support the speed up to ten Gbps, the 5G wifi technology cansupply contiguous and consistent coverage − “wider area quality in true sense.”
Architecture of 5G
The system model of 5G is entirely science based mostly model designed for the wireless and mobile networks. The system comprising of a main user terminal so variety of freelance and autonomous radio access technologies. every of the radio technologies is taken into account because the science link for the surface net world. The science technology is intended solely to make sure enough management knowledge for acceptable routing of IP packets associated with a particular application connections i.e. sessions between consumer applications and servers somewhere on the net. Moreover, to form accessible routing of packets ought to be mounted in accordance with the given policies of the user.
The Master Core Technology
As shown in the Figure five, the 5G Master-core is convergence purpose for the opposite technologies, that have their own impact on existing wireless network. curiously, its style facilitates Master-core to induce operated into parallel multi-mode as well as all science network mode and 5G network mode. during this mode (as shown within the image given below), it controls all network technologies of RAN and completely different Access Networks (DAT). Since, the technology is compatible and manages all the new deployments (based on 5G), it’s a lot of economical, simpler, and a lot of powerful.
Surprisingly, any service mode is opened underneath 5G New preparation Mode as World Combination Service Mode (WCSM). WCSM could be a terrific feature of this technology; for instance, if a prof writes on the white board during a country – it is displayed on another white board in the other part of the planet besides voice communication and video. Further, a brand new service is simply additional through parallel multi-mode service.
Normally, it’s expected that the fundamental measure needed for the 5G technology development and its implementation is regarding 5 years a lot of from currently (by 2020). however to changing into usable for the folk in developing countries, it may be even a lot of.
Expected Time Length
By considering the multiple utility and varied modern salient options, researchers are anticipating that this technology are in use till 2040s.
Applications of 5G
Some of the numerous applications are −
It will create a unified international commonplace for all.
Network available are everyplace and can facilitate folks to use their pc and such reasonably mobile devices anyplace anytime.
Because of the IPv6 technology, visiting care of mobile science address are assigned as per the connected network and geographical position.
Its application can create world real WI Fi zone.
Its psychological feature radio technology can facilitate completely different version of radio technologies to share an equivalent spectrum expeditiously.
Its application can facilitate folks to avail radio radiation at higher altitude furthermore.
Application of 5G is extremely a lot of corresponding to accomplishment of dream. it’s integrated with on the far side the limit advance options as compared to the previous technologies.
Advanced options
In comparison to previous radio technologies, 5G has following advancement −
Practically attainable to avail the super speed i.e. one to ten Gbps.
Latency are one unit of time (end-to-end spherical trip).
1,000x information measure per unit space.
Feasibility to attach ten to a hundred variety of devices.
Worldwide coverage.
About ninetieth reduction in network energy usage.
Battery life are for much longer.
Whole world are in WI fi zone.
5th generation technology offers a good vary of options, that are useful for all cluster of individuals as well as, students, professionals (doctors, engineers, teachers, governing bodies, body bodies, etc.) and even for a standard man.
Important Things
There are many blessings of 5G technology, a number of the benefits are shown within the on top of Ericsson image, and lots of others are represented below −
High resolution and bi-directional giant information measure shaping.
Technology to assemble all networks on one platform.
More effective and economical.
Technology to facilitate subscriber oversight tools for the short action.
Most probably, can give an enormous broadcasting knowledge (in Gigabit), which is able to support quite sixty,000 connections.
Easily manageable with the previous generations.
Technological sound to support heterogeneous services (including personal network).
Possible to supply uniform, uninterrupted, and consistent property across the planet.
Parallel multiple services, like you’ll apprehend weather and placement whereas talking with different person.
You can management your PCs by handsets.
Education can become easier − A student sitting in any part of the world will attend the category.
Medical Treatment can become easier & economical − A doctor will treat the patient situated in remote parts of the planet.
Monitoring are easier − A governmental organization and investigation offers will monitor any part of the planet. attainable to scale back the rate.
Visualizing universe, galaxies, and planets are attainable.
Possible to find and search for the missing person.
Possible, natural disaster as well as moving ridge, earthquake etc. is detected quicker
Disadvantages of 5G Technology
Though, 5G technology is researched and conceptualized to unravel all radio radiation issues and hardship of mobile world, however as a result of some security reasons and lack of technological advancement in most of the geographic regions, it’s following shortcomings −
Technology continues to be underneath method and analysis on its viability goes on.
The speed, this technology is saying looks tough to attain (in future, it would be) as a result of the incompetent technological support in most elements of the planet.
Many of the previous devices wouldn’t be competent to 5G, hence, all of them have to be compelled to get replaced with new one — high-priced deal.
Developing infrastructure wants high price.
Security and privacy issue nevertheless to be resolved.
Challenges are the inherent part of the new development; therefore, like all technologies, 5G has conjointly massive challenges to upset. As we have a tendency to see past i.e. development of radio technology, we discover in no time growth. ranging from 1G to 5G, the journey is just regarding forty years previous (Considering 1G in Nineteen Eighties And 5G in 2020s). However, during this journey, the common challenges that we have a tendency to determined are lack of infrastructure, analysis methodology, and cost.
Still, there are dozens of nations exploitation 2G and 3G technologies and don’t apprehend even regarding 4G, in such a condition, the foremost vital queries in everyone’s mind are −
How can 5G be viable?
Will or not it’s the technology of a number of the developed countries or developing countries will get advantage of this?
To understand these queries, the challenges of 5G are classified into the subsequent 2 headings −
Technological Challenges
Inter-cell Interference − this can be one among the key technological problems that require to be resolved. there’s variations in size of ancient macro cells and synchronic little cells that may result in interference.
Efficient Medium Access management − during a state of affairs, wherever dense preparation of access points and user terminals are needed, the user output are low, latency are high, and hotspots won’t be competent to cellular technology to supply high output. It has to be researched properly to optimize the technology.
Traffic Management − as compared to the standard human to human traffic in cellular networks, a good variety of Machine to Machine (M2M) devices during a cell could cause serious system challenges i.e. radio access network (RAN) challenges, which is able to cause overload and congestion.
Common Challenges
Multiple Services − not like different radio radiation services, 5G would have an enormous task to supply services to heterogeneous networks, technologies, and devices operational in several geographic regions. So, the challenge is of standardization to supply dynamic, universal, user-centric, and data-rich wireless services to fulfil the high expectations of individuals.
Infrastructure − Researchers face technological challenges of standardization and application of 5G services.
Communication, Navigation, & Sensing − These services for the most part rely on the supply of spectrum, through the signals are transmitted. tho’ 5G technology has sturdy procedure power to process the large volume of knowledge coming back from completely different and distinct sources, however it wants larger infrastructure support.
Security and Privacy − this can be one among the foremost vital challenges that 5G has to make sure the protection of private knowledge. 5G can got to outline the uncertainties associated with security threats as well as trust, privacy, cybersecurity, that are growing across the world.
Legislation of Cyberlaw − crime and different fraud can also increase with the high speed and present 5G technology. Therefore, legislation of the Cyberlaw is additionally an indispensable issue, that for the most part is governmental and political (national furthermore as international issue) in nature.
Several researches and discussions are happening across the planet among technologists, researchers, academicians, vendors, operators, and governments regarding the innovations, implementation, viability, and security considerations of 5G.
As projected, loaded with multiple advance options ranging from the super high speed net service to sleek presentservice, 5G can unlock several of the issues. However, the question is — during a state of affairs, wherever the previous technologies (4G and 3G) are still underneath method and in several elements nevertheless to be started; what is going to be the longer term of 5G?
5th generation technology is intended to supply unbelievable and memorable knowledge capabilities, unrestrained decision volumes, and immeasurable knowledge broadcast at intervals the most recent mobile OS. Hence, it’s a lot of intelligent technology, which is able to interconnect the whole world while not limits. Likewise, our world would have universal and uninterrupted access to info, communication, and recreation that may open a brand new dimension to our lives and can modification our life vogue meaningfully.
Moreover, governments and regulators can use this technology as a chance for the nice governance and may produce healthier environments, which is able to undoubtedly encourage continued investment in 5G, future generation technology.

Core Java 9, Second Edition
10 Hours of Video Instruction Overview Core Java® has long been recognized as the leading, no-nonsense tutorial and reference for experienced programmers who want to write robust Java code for real-world applications. In Core Java® LiveLessons, Second Edition, Cay S. Horstmann takes that same approach to introducing experienced programmers to Java, with detailed demonstration. This training pairs with the forthcoming eleventh edition of Core Java®, Volume I‚ÄìFundamentals, which is being fully updated to cover Java SE 9 and 10. Description The first two lessons of Core Java® LiveLessons, Second Edition, quickly review the history of Java and show you, step by step, how to install the software development environment. In lesson 3, you will learn how to do in Java what you already know in another programming language: write branches and loops, and work with numbers, strings, and arrays. Lesson 4 covers object-oriented programming. Java is thoroughly object-oriented, and the lesson shows you how to use built-in classes and how to build your own. Lessons 5 and 6 cover inheritance and interfaces as well as the lambda expressions, a powerful new feature of Java SE 8. Lesson 7 shows you what to do when your programs do the wrong thing. The lesson covers exception handling, logging, and debugging. In lesson 8, you will learn how to write generic code that works for many different data types. Lesson 9 puts those skills to work, when we examine the multitude of Java collections that allow you to organize your data in many ways. The final three lessons introduce the fundamentals of user interface programming in Java. About the Instructor Cay S. Road Map to Success: Creating the Content of Your Audience’s Dreams
In 1995, Steve Jobs was interviewed by Robert Cringely for a PBS documentary, Triumph of the Nerds. During the on-camera discussion, the future Apple CEO reflected on the notion that generating big ideas isn’t the same thing as being able to bring them to life in a valuable way. As he said, “There’s just a tremendous amount of craftsmanship in between a great idea and a great product.”
It’s a distinction that most content marketers are familiar with – especially if it’s your job to spin rough, disorganized insights and ideas into high-performing content gold.
From an outsider’s view, it can be easy to assume content creators simply generate imaginative ideas, write (or record) them, and then publish them as a blog post, email message, or other content piece. But while those tasks are certainly key parts of the creative equation, a lot more has to happen behind the scenes if those creative assets are to perform successfully as a marketing vehicle – i.e., get found by the right audiences, drive meaningful conversations with them, and compel them to take action.
Ready to discover the secrets of producing well-conceived, well-written stories? Read on for a handy tutorial on the essentials, along with resources that can help take your content creation to greater levels of success.
Before you proceed: If you aren’t confident you have the right foundation in place to support your creative efforts – or just need a quick refresher on a particular topic – you may want to take a step back and review our previous Road Map to Success guides:
Resources to Refresh Your Content Marketing Program
Content Marketing Strategy Essentials
Turn Your Strategy Into a Stellar Editorial Content Plan
A practical view of content creation
There are three main areas to consider when it comes to establishing and activating your organization’s content creation capabilities:
Who will create/contribute to the content?
How will our creative efforts align with our strategic goals?
How do we craft compelling stories that our audience will love?
1. Establishing your content creation model
There are multiple ways your business can assemble its content creation force, each offering a distinct complement of pros, cons, and practical considerations. To determine the best contributor model to work with – and decide whether to use it in combination with other approaches – you need to weigh factors like the nature of your business, the competition your content will face, the level of expertise your content will require, and the team and budget resources you have. Here are some examples:
Hiring a dedicated writing staff: If you place a higher priority on content creation, want to produce a high volume of content, or need content to fill multiple channels and platforms at once, it may be worth having full-time writing talent so you can maintain control of the process.
Leveraging internal subject matter experts: If your content requires a high level of technical know-how or other specialized expertise, you may want to incentivize your executive management, sales teams, or other fellow employees to contribute content.
Incentivize your executives, sales teams, or other specialized employees to contribute content, says @joderama. Click To Tweet
Outsourcing to freelancers or other specialists: Smaller businesses, startups, nonprofits, or other companies that aren’t ready to invest in full-scale editorial capabilities may prefer to work with freelance writers (including trained journalists), or to partner with a content agency or other creative services provider.
Soliciting external contributors: If you are a B2B business that has a strong community of subscribers, known industry thought leaders may be interested in guest blogging on your owned media platform in exchange for valuable backlinks to increase their reach and exposure. Or, if your business has a more B2C focus, you might look to enable your ardent fans and followers to create user-generated content on your brand’s behalf.
Automating the process: While content creation via artificial intelligence is in its early stages, there’s every indication that automation will play a significant role in content marketing in the near future. Brands willing to invest in and experiment with the technology will be poised to make a big splash, leaving their competitors behind in the kiddie pool of AI-driven content innovation.

2. Aligning creativity and strategy
Sharing compelling, useful stories your audience will love is an admirable goal for any content brand. But, of course, there needs to be an effective marketing purpose supporting that love fest. In other words, if you aren’t working with the right content formats and types to draw the attention of your target audience or aren’t positioning your content in the right way to drive engagement and conversion, you’ll keep needlessly spinning the wheels of your content engine with nothing tangible to show for your efforts.
Achieving creative and strategic alignment is a top-down endeavor; so, let’s start with the practical and tactical decision-making that should come before you write a single word of content.
Evaluate your format and content type options
According to CMI’s 2018 Benchmarks, Budgets, and Trends research, social media posts, blog posts, emails, e-books, and video continue to reign supreme when it comes to the content formats and types B2B and B2C marketers rely on the most.
But just because these content options seem to have universal appeal doesn’t mean they are a good fit for every purpose or that there aren’t compelling reasons to work with other, more specialized tactics. It’s important to become familiar with the strengths and limitations of each option so you can make informed decisions on which to pursue.
Some #content options have universal appeal; that doesn't mean they're a good fit for every purpose. @joderama Click To Tweet
Here are some starting points for your research efforts:
Blogging
Video
Email
Social media
E-books
Interactive content
Visual content
Podcasts
Live events
Find your unique approach
Next, there’s the matter of how you distinguish the content you create under your chosen tactical umbrellas – an essential consideration if you want your content to rise above the noise, attract and engage the right consumers, and compel them to take action on behalf of your brand.
One way to approach this task is to find a content niche (aka a content tilt) that you can cover better than anyone else in your industry – think of Moz with its Whiteboard Friday blog posts or Hop Grenade Taproom and Bottle Shop using podcasting to become a media powerhouse in the craft brewery industry. By focusing your creative resources around one specialty, you eliminate the paralysis that can come from trying to fill too many content buckets at once and ensure that everything you create under that theme ties to your strategic purpose in an organic way.
To zero in on a viable content niche, ask yourself these three questions:
Can we own the conversation in this area for our industry?
Does our audience have a pressing – and unmet – need for this kind of content?
Do we have the right know-how and production capabilities to consistently create valuable content of this type?
Nail down your plan for strategic-creative alignment
Need more help determining the right content types or the ideal niche to set your content apart from your competition and drive you closer to your business goals? Continue your journey of discovery with these key resources:
Choosing your content tactics
Identifying your unique content tilt
3. Crafting your stories
Your content should serve as a platform for communicating your brand’s unique perspectives, capabilities, and value proposition; but it also needs to tell a story that resonates strongly enough with readers to convince them to act. In addition to the usual creative considerations – like determining topics, generating story ideas, and maintaining a consistently high level of creativity and writing quality – content marketers need to be comfortable working within a storytelling framework that leverages the power of persuasion.
Your #content needs to tell a story that resonates w/ readers to convince them to act, says @joderama. Click To Tweet
Identify worthwhile content topics
Kick off your creative ideation process by determining which subjects you should be writing about and eliminating the ones you don’t feel reflect your brand’s identity in the most meaningful and targeted way.
One way to approach this task is to identify some primary subject areas your target audience has actively been searching for information on. Conducting keyword research or using more sophisticated techniques like topic modeling at the start of your ideation process (if you don’t have this data on hand) can help you get a deeper understanding of the challenges your content should be helping readers solve. It can also help you confirm you’ve found a niche where your initiatives might be able to gain a competitive advantage: If your search uncovers relevant questions for which useful answers aren’t forthcoming, it’s probably a topic that’s worth addressing for your audience.
Generate creative article ideas
It takes a lot of creative ideas to fuel a content engine and keep it running smoothly on a long-term basis. Team brainstorming sessions are one great way to help your writers get their creative juices flowing and come up with a high volume of ideas to consider. Another approach is to incorporate word games and creative improvisation techniques – like the ones Cisco Systems’ Tim Washer describes – into your creative ideation process.
Incorporate word games and creative improv techniques in your #content ideation process, says @joderama. Click To Tweet
Prioritize your ideas
Not every idea your team generates is a good fit for your business: Some may be fantastic on paper but require more time and attention to produce than your team can spare; others may be creatively brilliant but not useful for your target audience. Make sure you have a prioritization process – like the core content strategy matrix Meghan Casey uses – to gauge the comparative value and urgency of your content ideas and help you decide which ones to move forward with.
Transform your ideas into resonant stories
Regardless of the creative process you use, content creation boils down to one essential step: the physical act of writing your stories. And when it comes to successful content creation, Steve Jobs’ thoughts on product development certainly apply: Turning a great idea into a great content piece requires considerable craftsmanship.
But that doesn’t mean the writing process has to cause a tremendous amount of anxiety and frustration. Ann Handley once pointed out that learning to become a better writer simply requires you to show up every day and practice your craft. Thankfully, she also provides some valuable tips to help make writing sessions more organized, eliminate unnecessary distractions, and stifle the inner critic that can derail your creative confidence and keep you from meeting your deadlines.
To be a better writer requires showing up every day and doing the work, says @annhandley. Click To Tweet
Strengthen your creative muscles
Over time, the rigors of the writing process can wear on even the most talented and prolific content creators. Look to aids like headline generators, productivity tools/guides, killer examples from inspiring content brands, or a little sage advice from a creative master when your writers need an extra spark of creative energy or a little help beating the occasional bout of writer’s block.
Enhance your writing quality
Content riddled with typos, grammatical errors, tech issues, or factual inaccuracies can cost you the trust and respect of your audience and, possibly, their patronage. To avoid being mocked for producing lazy, low-quality assets or labeled as a purveyor of fake news, carefully proof, test, and fact-check every content effort to ensure that it is as clear, functional, error-free, and above reproach as possible.

Executive Mentors Wanted. Only Millennials Need Apply.
If you were a CEO, would you hire a millennial to mentor you about the millennial perspective regarding product, sales, communication, technology, emerging market and marketing trends, and other issue? Why? What are the ethics underlying your decision?
Junior office workers once had a fairly predictable set of daily tasks. Write the sales memo. Build the PowerPoint. Make the coffee.
Now, many young professionals have a new mandate: Drag the boss into the 21st century.
While businesses chase evanescent market trends and grapple with a fast-moving future, millennial mentors, as many companies call them, have emerged as a hot accessory for executives. Young workers, some just out of college, are being pulled into formal corporate programs to give advice to the top ranks of their companies.
Millennial mentorship programs represent a formalized, mildly absurdist version of the advice junior workers have been giving their older colleagues for ages. Some executives want the views of young people on catering to new markets and developing new products, while others seek glorified tech support — Snapchat 101, Twitter tutorials and emoji lessons.
These programs are not just a departure from the business world’s traditional top-down management style. They are also a sign of just how perplexed some executives are by the young people in their midst.
Companies like Mastercard, Cisco Systems and Mars Inc. have experimented with these mentoring programs. Inga Beale, 54, the chief executive of the insurance marketplace Lloyd’s of London, has said that her junior mentor, who is 19, has a “totally different perspective” and leaves her “inspired.” Melanie Whelan, 40, the chief executive of SoulCycle, holds monthly meetings with her younger mentor, whom she has credited with helping her get “hip with what the kids are doing these days.”
“It’s like reconnecting with your lost youth,” said David Watson, 38, a managing director at Deutsche Bank who has been mentored by Fernando Hernandez, 29, an engineer in the Wall Street bank’s global markets technology division. He credited Mr. Hernandez with good tips for retaining young employees, like giving them more flexible work-from-home arrangements, and with helping him spot trends in the financial tech industry.
“It’s valuable information,” Mr. Watson said. “When you’re making decisions about budgets, or priorities, or hiring, you can actually put into practice what you learned.”
It was perhaps inevitable that older executives would turn to their young employees for advice. As technology has changed the way businesses run, it has also put power in the hands of digital natives, and left older, less tech-savvy executives angling for ways to keep up.
Could these executives just ask their children for tech tips? Sure. But workplace programs allow executives to peer into the future of their industry and bond with a junior colleague simultaneously, with minimal embarrassment.
Reverse mentoring — another name companies give to younger people training older workers — is not a new concept. Jack Welch, while the chief executive of General Electric in the 1990s, required 500 of his top managers to pair up with junior workers to learn how to use the internet. But executives are especially eager to learn from millennials, whose dominance in Silicon Valley has given older workers a fear of obsolescence.
An entire cottage industry now peddles advice to youth-obsessed executives, with books like “Understanding Millennials” and events like “Millennial Week,” a two-day festival meant to “promote and present ideas reflecting the impact of Generation Y on culture and society.” Millennial consultants now advise companies like Oracle, Estée Lauder and HBO, charging as much as $20,000 per hour to give executives advice on marketing their products to young people. Over all, American organizations spent about $80 million on “generational consulting” last year, according to Source Global Research, a firm that studies the consulting industry.
Compared with the prospect of shelling out thousands of dollars for one of those outside consultants, many executives prefer the alternative of using the young people already on their payroll.
“It’s a pretty smart thing for them to do,” said Malcolm Harris, the author of “Kids These Days,” a forthcoming book about millennials and the economy. “If you can’t get a 25-year-old to run your company, you can at least tell people your C.E.O. is talking to 25-year-olds.”
Tiffany Zhong, 20, began mentoring Kara Nortman, 41, a partner at the venture capital firm Upfront Ventures, after Ms. Nortman asked her for advice on dealing with a new generation of tech entrepreneurs.
Ms. Zhong now texts Ms. Nortman almost daily, doling out cultural lessons and pointers. She advised her on the proper usage of “Gucci” — a slang term used by teens to mean “good” — and gently corrected Ms. Nortman’s texting etiquette.
“I told her, ‘You can’t send 10 emojis at once, that’s not O.K.,’ ” Ms. Zhong said.
For Ms. Nortman, who invests in and advises technology companies, Ms. Zhong’s lessons are not just academic.
“We spend a lot of time talking about the psychology of a teen,” Ms. Nortman said. “It’s influenced a lot of perspectives around how to manage my own time, and how to invest.”
These mentoring arrangements can be initially awkward for executives who are accustomed to dispensing advice, not receiving it. When Mr. Watson, the Deutsche Bank managing director, was first paired with Mr. Hernandez through his firm’s millennial mentoring program, he was skeptical that useful advice could come from someone nearly a decade his junior. But the experience opened his mind. Recently, he said, he had spent two hours having an impromptu chat with some younger workers in his division.
“To sit down with someone who’s on the org chart six levels below me is educational,” Mr. Watson said. “You learn about yourself, and how you differ from them.”
And the traditional mentoring benefit remains in place.
“I can still learn from him, obviously,” Mr. Hernandez said. “But I hope I can teach him some stuff.”
Many of the new reverse mentoring arrangements include lessons on new technology and emerging market trends. Gerald L. Hassell, 65, the chairman of Bank of New York Mellon, asked his millennial mentor, Darah Kirstein, a 32-year-old vice president at the bank, to help him streamline the information he got from the internet. She set him up on Tweetdeck, a Twitter app that allows for custom filters, and installed Flipboard, a digital magazine app, on his iPad. Eventually, Mr. Hassell began asking Ms. Kirstein for her thoughts on the direction of the company, and she became a trusted sounding board.
“A lot of our conversations were, how are millennials experiencing our organizational change? What advice do you have for better communicating?” Mr. Hassell said.
For Todd Sachse, the 53-year-old chief executive of Sachse Construction in Detroit, one appeal of the reverse-mentoring program was the potential to unite employees of multiple generations. Last year, Mr. Sachse paired 10 senior executives with 10 younger workers and assigned them to have monthly one-on-one conversations on topics like technology and stereotypes of younger workers, with a debriefing round at the end of six sessions.
“The feedback was outstanding from both sides,” Mr. Sachse said. “It dispelled some of the misperceptions of millennials.”
As reverse mentoring programs grow in popularity, some young workers still lack the traditional, top-down mentorship meant to help them rise in their careers. According to a 2016 report by Deloitte, the consulting firm, more than half of young workers said their leadership skills were not being fully developed in the workplace.
“It really is the opposite of the mentorship offer that firms have historically made to young people,” Mr. Harris said. “Now it’s just, ‘We want you to come work for us, and teach us how to do our jobs.’ ”
Still, many of the young mentors seem happy to dole out advice. For Ms. Kirstein, who works at Bank of New York Mellon’s Pittsburgh offices, the extra attention from Mr. Hassell, who is based in New York, has been its own reward.
“I definitely get special nods here and there,” Ms. Kirstein said. “The last time Gerald was here, he called me out in a town hall in front of a lot of people. That makes you feel good.”
Millennials, traditionally defined as those born after 1982, may not have the upper hand for long.
Ms. Zhong, who started a consulting firm, Zebra Intelligence, to inform businesses about teenage attitudes, says that she’s already getting inquiries from people asking to be mentored by members of Gen Z, often defined as the cohort born after 1996. She is planning to start a mutual mentorship program to connect teenagers and young 20-somethings with senior-level executives, and hopefully outsource some of the work she’s been doing.
“I’m like an on-demand Gen Z support,” Ms. Zhong said. “But I can’t keep all my adult friends up-to-date on everything.”

Morning Pages #39 (03.03.2017)
Friday 3rd March - 10:18 a.m.
So it’s been two days since I wrote, but at least I’m writing in the morning again. I’m going to the gym in a bit, after my breakfast has had time to settle in my stomach, and then I’m going to be on my way to Northcote for the weekend and also for most of next week. I’ll have a bit of work to do over the weekend but hopefully nothing major, because Evan and I have a bit of a big weekend planned. I’m trying not to think about it yet though, because I am seeing him TOMORROW and I am incredibly excited for that. But I also acknowledge that there are things I’ll need to do before that happens, like my university readings for next week and my tutorial responses for two subjects. I also need to write my pitch for my journalism class, and I think I’ll have to do something for advanced screenwriting too, I just don’t know yet? I don’t know, it takes some time to get back into the habit of studying every week and getting to grips with coursework is perhaps a skill that one never really masters. At any rate, it’ll be nice to be on my own at Emily’s for this weekend, that is when Evan won’t be over. He’s coming over on Saturday, and again on Sunday. He’ll be staying over on Sunday, which I’m looking forward to because I was at his house yesterday and was very tempted to stay the night. It didn’t help that he was asking me to, of course, but the matter was settled when I received a phone call from my mother who wanted me to come home. He then took me to the station and I managed to catch the second last train (the 11:58 p.m.) back to South Morang, and managed to get to the station at 12:20 a.m., and thathi picked me up from there and took me home. I texted Evan good night when I got home, and then stayed up till about 2 in the morning packing my bags to take to Northcote today. The thing is, I haven’t actually told ammi and thathi that I’ll be in Northcote this weekend, or at least I don’t think I’ve said it. Okay, I’m halfway through this first page and I think I might finish this after the gym, after I’ve unpacked at Northcote? Because I just realised that it’s 10:30 a.m., and I can assume I’ll be at the gym for maybe an hour or so, which means I’ll be on my way to Northcote around noon if I’m lucky, maybe 12:30 p.m., and then I’ll have the rest of the day to do some work. I also have to go and see Lauren today, but I don’t know how that’s going to work. Like do I feed the cats first or do I feed them when I get back from seeing Lauren? I’m supposed to go and see her at 3 p.m., but I don’t know if I’m going to be able to do that because I have a responsibility to the cats. I need to send her a message and sort this out. It might mean heading down to South Yarra earlier, like around 1 maybe so that I can be home around 7 or 8 and then feed the cats then. Yes, that sounds good. I’ll sort that out in a bit, I just need to get the rest of my plans in order.
I won’t need a printer for this weekend because I don’t have any major assignments until the end of this month, but I will need to print out some resumes before I head out so that I can hand them out over the weekend. I think maybe fifteen should be fine, though that might even be a bit too much. Still, it’s better to have more than to have less, such is the way of this capitalist system which we both inhabit and maintain. I’m getting really frustrated with capitalism, which tends to happen with every new semester. I think all arts students are hyper aware of the failings of the structure of our global economy because it affects them a lot more than people who have more useful degrees. Artists can only thrive in prosperous nations, nations that have money to waste on the arts. That’s why the evolution of Colombo, Sri Lanka has been such a big deal not just for Sri Lankan citizens, but also to the international Sri Lankan community. It’s just such a blessing even watching the re-prioritisation of modern culture and artists in Sri Lanka following the civil war. Evan’s dad, Brian, and I had a rather interesting conversation about the Sri Lankan civil war amongst other things to do with my background, which he was very interested in. Okay, I’m going to have to talk about this later if I want to stay ahead of time today. I’m going to go and get ready for the gym and have a really great session today, and then I’m going to head off. I’ll return to today’s pages in a couple of hours, I think, at which point I’ll write a little more about seeing Evan’s place and meeting his parents, and WATCHING HIM PLAY!
I’m so sorry. It’s actually Saturday now, the 4th. It’s 11:14 a.m. and I am totally to blame for this massive spillage into today. I have decided however, that I will finish yesterday’s pages as well as do today’s pages later on today, just because it’s the weekend and I have time to kill. I’m also getting really into ‘The Progress of Julius’, the book by Daphne du Maurier that I bought in Northcote. I just listened to the song ‘Heaven Must Have Sent You’ by The Elgins and the whole time I was thinking of Evan. Now my computer is playing ‘Heaven Knows’ by Absynthe Minded. Elsa just died in ‘The Progress of Julius’ and she died knowing full well that Julius could have saved her life, and that he never had any intention of sending her to Switzerland to recuperate from her tuberculosis, but instead left her to die in England in the back room of his booming business (his one true love being his capital). She died staring right at him, wordless in her weakness, but her eyes revealing her knowledge of his betrayal, his abandonment of her. There seems to be a trend here. The whole world seems to be talking about love right now, and I know that the world generally does tend to talk about love. Love is perhaps the most important thing that could ever be. It’s the only positive thing we humans have managed to hold onto that exists in the ‘animal’ world, the world which we’ve mostly attempted to distance ourselves from by constructing our own world and then by filling this new meagre world with a plethora of endless distractions, distractions that cross over into one another so that there may never be a time that exists with little distraction. With any hope, a modern human being can cruise through their entire life without ever having to think at all. The three months leading up to her death, Elsa was oblivious to her forthcoming doom, only aware she was dying in her last few moments of life. Julius held her desperate hands in his own and just stared down at her, watching the life leave her with such a cruel detachment, feeling perhaps no remorse at all for lying to her during her last days on this earth. But in a way, Elsa also allowed herself to be distracted. She didn’t think at all about the fact that she was suffering, that she was on her deathbed even. She was so caught up in the thought of travelling somewhere else, leaving all of the ill fortune she had experienced in London, and going on to Switzerland which in her mind was so romanticised that it was definitely symbolic enough to be a kind of heaven for her. In a way, her travelling to Switzerland would have been a death in its own, and she was looking forward to it for that reason. She wasn’t happy in her life, she wanted to leave it. She just didn’t want to die.
I saw Lauren yesterday and we spoke about this briefly, how people will spend their lives being unhappy just for the sake of achieving something in lieu of happiness, usually money. People will devote all their time and energy into securing financial stability, believing financial stability to be the modern elixir of life and thus, of lasting happiness. She told me about a girlfriend she once had who had organised her entire young adult path and her subsequent career path into attaining monetary success, furthering herself in an academic field she had no interest in and then devoting herself to an industry she had no passion for, just so she can reach some abstract level of prestige. Lauren would try and reason with this person, and very often also questioned their decisions. Lauren asks questions from everybody she meets, myself included. They can actually be very helpful, and they were for me yesterday too. But I’ll get to that in a second. Anyway, when Lauren began to question this person, they would shut that conversation down almost immediately. And after a while they just broke contact with her all together, because they didn’t want anybody challenging their mindset and their plans, because it had taken enough self-persuading and conditioning of themselves to follow these plans in the first place. They have essentially done everything in their power to repress their true selves in any way available to them. Oh, I should also mention that this person is gay but nobody knows about that side of them, and they have no intention of coming out of the closet any time soon and Lauren was also baffled about that too. It’s like this woman didn’t really like herself at all.
I don’t know I’m writing about all of this. It just feels like the thing to be doing right now. I’m kind of waiting for Evan right now, and I’m getting antsy. He’s supposed to be over any second and I have music playing and I’m typing at breakneck speed right now, sitting on the couch at Emily’s place and just kind of...distracting myself. Passing the time. I’m singing a lot. Right now I’m singing ‘Love Lockdown’ by Kanye, which is an unbelievably sexy song for me honestly. I think it’s because they played it in ‘skins’ when Panda lost her virginity to Cook despite the fact that she had spent the entire night crying and missing Thomas. That episode was so powerful, holy shit. The entire show is fantastic, honestly. So well-written, so raw, and sincere. They seriously covered all the bases, I mean young people in the United Kingdom must feel so supported because their media is just so inclusive and non-judgemental. It’s a little infuriating looking at our media in comparison to theirs. I mean the ABC is good, and SBS is also fairly well-organised to an extent, but there’s very little there that’s been written for young adults. It’s either for children or middle aged people. Or older people, even. Maybe this is what I should be focusing on, in my writing. I should be writing for young people. Honestly though, I feel like that’s all I’ve been doing for a while. My film for example, is easily relatable to young people regardless of whether they’re ethnic or not. It’s all about fitting in anyway, and young people are usually the people who struggle in that field, because they’re still young enough to be self-conscious and to think that what other people think of them matters. Lauren was telling me that she’s grown past that now, and at the age of 21 she no longer feels stifling levels of being self-conscious. She just allows herself to live. I would like to reach that someday. Lord knows I need it. I waste so much of my energy fretting. I’m fretting right now. I’m very much over it.
